(Catherine) Betty Easton OBE (1920-2010)

Elected Lord Mayor 1991-92, she had been a City Councillor in the Conservative interest for the Plymstock Radford ward 1973-1995. Initially, she and her husband, Rodney Easton, had both served as Councillors, but after his death, she continued her work in local politics. Always known as Betty, she was a stalwart in local Conservative circles. On the Council, she served as Chair of the Public Services Committee for 14 years, a testament to her dedication to the city she loved, helping to explain the award of an OBE for services to the community. She became an honorary Alderman in 1995.
