Miss Fanny Gage-Goodfellow (d1942)

She lived at Compton Knowle, Hartley Avenue, Plymouth and was a member of a prominent local family – she was a well-known local singer (contralto) who sang with Rev Sabine Baring Gould. She introduced Nancy Astor to the concept of the waifs and strays teas, which she had been organising for some time in Batter Street, remaining active in this interest into the 1920s. She was active in this until 1920. She stood successfully for election as a councillor in 1919, for the Compton Ward but did not seek re-election.
